Spring Track Update

ATTENTION: The clearance list for the spring season has been posted, it is in alphabetic order based on your last name. If your name is not on the list email coach Washington (runningmounties@gmail.com) so that you can be informed as to why you are not cleared. Tomorrow after at 3pm we will meet in the cafeteria of the main building. If you plan on being a part of the spring track team, whether you are cleared or not, you must be present.

Tomorrow hurdlers will meet at 3:15 in the freshman building, athletes still competing will leave from Midland ave at 2:45 for practice at Ocean Breeze. On Friday, those still competing and varsity distance runners will meet at woodman immediately after school, everyone else will report at 2:45pm.

Spring Track

The list posted for the spring season is just a list of who has turned in paperwork. I will not have a list of who is cleared until Thursday evening because the school doctor will be in that day to finalize and sign off on all paperwork. If your name is not on the list that means you have not turned in paper work. If this is the case please email coach Washington (runningmounties@gmail.com) to find out what exactly you need to do. Friday will be the first day of tryouts for the spring season, even if your name is not on the list and you plan on participating you must come to woodman. 

Parents, the spring information meeting with the athletic department and our team parent meeting will be held on March 5th at 7pm in the "Little Theatre" in the freshman building. We will go over the season, expectations of your child, booster club information, the schedule and answer all of your questions and concerns.

Distance

Varsity distance athletes, do not do the workout today. Go home and do 2 sets of the body weight/core workout posted in the workouts link. Tomorrow you will do Mondays workout. Athletes going to Nationals/doing preseason training will meet at woodman today.

2/20 update

Varsity distance and everyone still in season will meet at woodman field tomorrow after school; all athletes should bring layers.

Due to the early dismissal, practice today is cancelled. Athletes still competing and varsity distance are asked to do the workouts below on the Nike app. Tomorrow we will meet at woodman field after school.

Spring Track

The clearance list for spring track has been posted (tab is under 2018-2019 to the right). If your name is not on this list you need to turn in your paperwork on Tuesday after school to Ms. Covello in the LGI. She will be there from 2:45pm until 7:30pm however, if all you need to do is turn in paperwork I would go to the LGI immediately after school and get this done. If you are in need of a physical those will be done on Tuesday evening as well from 5pm-7:30pm and you can turn in all other paperwork that is needed. This will be your last day to turn in your forms if you expect to be cleared for the spring season so please get this done.

All Varsity distance runners we will meet at woodman at 9:30am... Athletes still competing, we will meet tomorrow at 10am. This does not mean stay up all hours of the night, remember it's the night before the night before that really counts in regards to rest and being prepared on meet day. Hurdlers, there will be no practice on Tuesday due to the meet, you will meet again on Thursday after school.

Varsity Distance

If you plan to be on varsity distance (800-3200) there will be a mandatory meeting at woodman field at 9:30am on Monday (come prepared to workout). Also, your workouts for the next two weeks have been posted; I advise you to stick to the program because this will help with the racing base we are going to build for the upcoming season.

Groups

Athletes competing tomorrow will be excused after their 4th period class, if you need to go to 5th period you can. The 4th period leave is just so you can grab lunch, change and not be rushed. The bus will be leaving from Midland ave at 12:45 so please be on time. Athletes who are not competing tomorrow but will be running at easterns will have practice at woodman field on Saturday morning at 9:30.

2/14

Tomorrow all hurdlers should meet on the second floor of the freshman building at 3:15, athletes whose season is still going please meet at woodman field immediately after school. Tomorrow is the last day to turn in spring paperwork during your lunch periods. For anyone who needs a physical the free day at the school has been moved to February 19th from 5-7:30pm, paperwork can also be turned in this day to Ms. Covello in the LGI from 2:45 until 7:30pm. February 19th will be the last day paperwork will be accepted in hopes of being cleared for March 1st.

Due to the Governor's State of Emergency announcement beginning at 12 AM and predicted weather conditions, all Montclair Public Schools and offices are closed on Tuesday, Feb. 12. All after-school and school-based evening activities are cancelled as well. The safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. Due to this decision there will be no practice tomorrow athletes please do the workout posted below. Also, the spring sports meeting and free physicals scheduled for tomorrow will be postponed to a later date.

Monday Feb. 11

If your season is over uniform return will be tomorrow after school at woodman field; please make sure they are washed. Also, for everyone interested in doing spring track this Tuesday and Thursday are the last days to turn in your sports forms during your lunch periods, Tuesday will also be the day you can take the free physical at school from 5pm-8pm and you can turn your paper work in that night as well. There will also be a spring sports information meeting on the 12th for parents at 7pm

All athletes still competing will have practice at 9am tomorrow. Also, if you are around the boys basketball team will be playing in the Essex County Tournament at home at 2pm go show your support.

2/7

All athletes who are competing at groups and training for easterns, we will be going to Ocean Breeze tomorrow for practice. The bus will leave at 2:45 pm, be on time and make sure you bring water and food for after practice.

Spring Sports Forms

Just to let you know there are only three more days to turn in sports forms for the spring.

February 7th, 12th and 14th.

They can be turned in during your lunch period to Ms. Covello in the main office. February 12th is physical night and the athletic department will be taking forms from 2:45 pm to 8:00pm. We will be posting an up to date clearance list this weekend. If you have your forms please get them in as soon as possible. As stated earlier if your forms are turned in after February 14th you will not be cleared for the first few weeks of the spring season. The link to all the forms needed are below. If your physical is valid all you need to do is fill out and turn in the Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation-History Form (90 day).

February 5th

Tomorrow the bus will leave from Midland avenue at 2:45, athletes competing need to come to the bus in their sweats and trainers. Everyone else has the day off. Also, tomorrow is one of the days to turn in your spring forms during your lunch periods so please make sure you do that. All athletes who’s season is done should return their uniforms on Monday February 11th after school at woodman field and we will also have a team meeting that day as well.

Varsity Classic

All athletes competing tomorrow will be excused from their 8th period class. After 7th period get changed and make your way to Midland avenue; the bus will be pulling off at 2pm. All other athletes will have the day off and will compete on Tuesday at FDU.

Hurdlers will be meeting on the ground floor of the main building at 9:15 for practice; everyone else should do the workout below.
