Mountie Relays

Information for the Mountie Relays has been posted. The team is expected to report to Woodman Field at 7am. Make sure you have layers and a pair of dry clothes (and socks) for when the rain subsides. Having a rain coat on top of your layers will be helpful as well.

Also make sure you have money for snacks at the concession stand and water/gatorade, snack in the event you have an allergy. It will be a long day, it's best to be prepared.

Everyone is to come prepared to compete.

Community Service Opportunity

If you are interested in earning community service hours, the Montclair Recreation Track and Field Program will begin on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 6-8pm at Woodman Field. The team will meet two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday 6-8pm). This program will last from April 4th-June 3rd, competition will begin after spring break. If you are interested in volunteering your time working with 3rd-8th graders in the sport of track and field, please click on the link below, fill out the application and return to Coach Wallace by Thursday, March 30, 2017. It is a wonderful way to share you knowledge about the sport will young people.

Mountie Relays Concession Stand Sign Up

Attention all parents and guardians! Our first home meet will be on Saturday April 1, 2017 at Woodman Field. If anyone would like to donate items to be sold at the concession stand please click on the link provided. We would like to thank you in advance. 

Also, if you have a chid on the spring track and field team and you have not received an email from Darryl Lammin, please email Coach Wallace (montclairgirlstrack@gmail.com) so we can update this information. Your child was instructed to fill out an emergency contact google form on the blog, if they did not follow that instruction, we do not have your email as of yet.

Spike Night Information

Spike Night is here! Fleet Feet is hosting a spike night for Montclair High School spring track and field athletes from 6-8pm this evening. You will receive discounts on trainers and competitions shoes. Please come out and support a wonderful business that supports the MHS running program.

The information meeting for all parents and guardians of spring track and field athletes will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 8:45am in the LGI (located in the main building). Practice will promptly begin at 9am.

Thursday Practice/Additional Information

Attention all, please meet on the second floor of the main building immediately after school. Please be on time, we will begin at 2:45pm. Come prepared with layers, water/sports drink, and snack for after practice. Please inform those who pick you up from practice that you will be in the main building. Practice will end at 5pm.

We will meet on the 2nd floor of the main building until further notice. Please keep your eye on the blog for any changes.

There are still some individuals on the team who have not signed the code of conduct (you only sign your name once) and emergency contact (under additional information on the blog). Please make sure this information has been completed by Friday noon. Do not hesitate to complete this task.

Snow Day Workout # 2

Hope you are enjoying your snow day! Here is the workout for today:

Warm up: Jumping jacks for 1 minute then rest for 1 minute. Repeat 10 times

Workout: 1 min high knees, 1 min jumping jacks, 2 min rest. Repeat 8 times

Rest 2 minutes

ABS: 30 bicycle crunches, 20 reverse crunches, 1 minute plank (30 sec elbows/30 sec hands). Rest and repeat 6 times


Cool down: Jumping jacks for 1 minute then rest for 1 minute. Repeat 4 times

Saturday Workout/Additional Announcements

It was great to meet everyone yesterday. There is no practice today (Saturday) but the workout below is for you to complete on your own. There will be another workout posted for tomorrow. Monday we will official meet at Woodman Field for practice, remember to have your combination lock, if you are not able to get one please let a member of the coaching staff know asap. 


There will be a spike night for all athlete at Fleet Feet located on Midland Ave on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 6-8pm. If you need trainers, do not hesitate to get them now. If you go to Fleet Feet and say you are a member of the Montclair High School Track and Field team, you will still receive a discount.  For whatever reason you are not able to purchase a pair of trainers (sneakers) please let a member of the coaching staff know ASAP. 

There will be an information meeting for parents/guardians on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 8:45am in the multipurpose room which is located at Woodman Field. 


On the right side of the blog, under additional information there is a  CODE OF CONDUCT and EMERGENCY CONTACT form that EVERY ATHLETE must complete by Sunday 11:59pm. Please be sure to read over the contract before signing. 


Workout:

Warm up (4 Sets):
 - 20 jumping jacks
 - 1 min planks
 - 5 push-ups
 - 1 min plank
 - 20 squats
 - 1 minute plank.
30 seconds Rest, repeat
2 minute rest
Workout (6 sets): 20 lunges, 20 crunches, 20 squats, 60 second plank, 100 jumping jacks, 60 second wall sit.
2 minute rest

Abs (4 sets): 25 basic crunches, 25 bicycle crunches, 10 lying leg raise, 1 minute plank. Rest @ the end for 30 seconds.
